Has there been any further developments in the slash-journal-deleting thing? I'm suddenly seeing a ton of Dreamwidths friending my account - which, of course, I don't mind (even though I just use my Dreamwidth to back up this journal). I didn't see anything on my friends list other than [livejournal.com profile] ldybastet's initial post on the matter - did something get posted on Tumblr that I missed (since I've taken to surfing the tags for my fandoms rather than just reading my dashboard as of late)? Have there been more journals purged?

Speaking of Tumblr, I stumbled across the Perverted J-rock Confessions blog, which is a source of both endless amusement and fanfic ideas. (Aoi's fangirls can be quite imaginative). Maybe now that I'm finally over my jet lag (I've been home a week! This Friday it will be two weeks since I saw the Gazemen!) I can write a little more than I did over the past week - which pretty much consisted of having energy only to peck away slowly at one fanfic, and spending most of my non-work time as a lump on Tumblr. (I came close to the post limit one day for the first time in a year).

EDIT: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] misumaru below, we now have a more complete picture of what's going on, including an official LJ response. Long story short: There's something fishy about the original story, and LJ's content for non-Russian users isn't dictated by Russian political policy, so you can continue to safely post slashfic here.

EDIT THE SECOND: Okay, more info has emerged here, here and here, and this is sounding more and more like an old-school late '90s/early '00s fanwank. (Yes, I used to read Fandom Wank back in the day, mainly for lulz like the women who thought they were married to Snape on the astral plane.) OP with a history of previous wanking? Allegedly so. OP making up a sockpuppet to answer for her when she's supposedly banned? There's a "friend" who answers for her in the comments of her original post who sounds highly suspicious. No evidence to back up her claim? OP says that she threw out LJ's E-mails to her and her trash can auto-emptied. (Um, I use Windows 7 on my laptop and Mac OSX on my desktop, and I have to tell both to empty the trash). OP is also claiming lots of support in E-mails and private messages - but can't produce them, either. Yep, it's 2003 all over again. Carry on with LJ slash, people, nothing to see here. (But do back up to Dreamwidth and post your fics to AO3. LJ tech issues and DDOS attacks still happen. Besides, both services need more J-rock fic. ~_^).

From what I've heard, the original poster has updated her post to say she has access again and that LJ have got in contact with her to say that her lj wasn't blocked (for her stated reason, at least) and to ask who sent her the message with the anti-gay claim. The poster claims that she deleted it in a fit of pique, which... Look, it just sounds really suspicious to me, ok? Plus I haven't seen any substantiated claims of this happening to anyone else. Personally, I just hope it's one user taking a tech issue way too personally and causing wank as a result. :/

Oh, and I have explanatory links! :D

It does sound really fishy... but hey, the scare got a few people to back up their stories onto AO3 (or other archives), and some even had a look at DW! So... something good came out of this person's drama anyway? ;)

*nods* Exactly - given lj's history, a few more DW backups isn't a bad thing! :)

Thank you! That clarifies a LOT - although I'm still going to continue to back up my LJ to Dreamwidth (political policy aside, there's still the matter of those pesky DDOS attacks . . .)

No worries! :) Honestly, I'm really happy for people to back up their work, so that's not a bad thing. I'd just rather not further what appears to be one person's vendetta.

I'm backing stuff up as well. I'm glad that in this instance, it seems to be false alarm... but I did see Strikethrough happening, so... I know sometimes LJ can make really bad decisions. And the DDOS attacks brings the site down on a regular basis. :(

Oh, yeah, I remember Strikethrough and Boldthrough - the original Strikethrough panic broke during Anime North and people kept running to the hotel business center - they had no wifi at the time - to make sure their journals were still there. The staffer who responded to that claims that nobody who was responsible for all that is still on LJ staff - not sure if that's true or a big "Please don't leave us, we admit we were wrong back in the day!", but it definitely sounds like they're aware people won't stand for something like that again.

I came across this post earlier today too http://copperbadge.livejournal.com/3660525.html?thread=83279853#t83279853 maybe it not as bad as it initially seemed after all...?

The more I hear about this, the more it sounds like an old-school, late '90s/early '00s LOOK AT MEEEEEE!!! fanwank rather than a genuine threat to any slash journals - apparently, the person has a history of wank. Also, a number of people have pointed out that if LJ was going to go after gay content, why not target actual LBGT activism communities, or at least larger slash coms?
