Found this Guide to the Fanfiction Universe on the site Vulture. Pretty much the standard stuff ("Wow, there's a LOT of slash out there!" "Some authors HATE you playing in their sandbox! Annie Proulx now wishes she'd never written Brokeback Mountain!" "Fifty Shades of Money blah blah blah") but there was some REALLY interesting stats in the graph in the middle showing what's big in fanfiction today. It seems there is now slightly more Real Person Fanfiction being written than animanga fic. Granted, that statistic is probably skewed by the fact that they're probably getting their data from Wattpad - known as The Official Home Of One Direction Fanficcers - but it still surprised the hell out of me. Damn, I guess we're not the Dirty Little Secret of Fanfiction (not that we ever really were) anymore. Kind of makes me feel a bit vindicated, to be perfectly honest.
