My Little Ruki: Fanwank is Tragic

All right, what the hay is going on with the Gaze fandom this time? I open Tumblr and see that, apparently, a wank so huge you'd have thought Ruki sprouted wings and was declared a princess had broken out. (Mind you, when these things happen I always see people talking about the wank rather than the wank itself. I think the real wank goes down on Facebook and Twitter and then people come to Tumblr to wank about the wank.
From what I can tell, the root of the wank is this: 1. Ruki says there will be another world tour, doesn't give a date. 2. Someone makes a vague remark during the MTV 81 interview about going to countries they hadn't before next time. 3. Fandom puts them together and concludes the Gazemen are definitely coming to America in 2014, even though nobody said anything of the sort. 4. GazettE announces the fan club lives for 2014. 5. Fandom flips its shit.
I've heard this has gone as far as people attacking Heresy members and sending hate messages to Aoi and Ruki. Really, fandom? Really?
The best part is the people yelling about it all being fan club only when they're not in Japan and have no plans to go. Um, then why does it matter to them? (Plus, we don't know for sure the WHOLE year is going to be fan club only - one friend of mine has a theory that this is all leading up to something big and public around Christmas, like a return to Budokan or Tokyo Dome, and that will be announced during the FC shows).
Every time one of these incidents breaks out, I'm thankful for all the level-headed, NICE people I've met in the Gaze fandom. Proof the wankers are the exception and not the rule.

Date: 2014-01-12 06:39 pm (UTC)Not to mention all the stupid comments on Ruki's instagram, where people argue with each other, and also ask him for xmas presents! Jesus, people! *facepalm*
It would be awesomely nice if this year leads up to something spectacular, but I'm okay with just getting a nice year with pretty pictures and getting to listen to BD a whole lot more! :D
I try to focus on the good people I have met in fandom too during these times. It makes things better. :)

Date: 2014-01-12 08:51 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think most of the wankers are younger fans who are jealous of people who can join Heresy and travel. It still doesn't excuse the behavior, though - especially the hate messages sent to Aoi and Ruki. Do they not realize that sort of thing is what drove Aoi off Twitter once? (Maybe we'll be lucky and all the wankers really will rage quit for good. Let SuperWhoLock have them!)
Someone else pointed out that it would have been impractical for the band to announce international dates to a Japan-only audience, and they're right. Why tell the Japanese fans about shows they won't be going to? And the announcement of the Not-Quite-World Tour was in April - I remember it well, because that's when I went scrambling for air and accommodations! Bookings to Munich fill up fast for Oktoberfest season!

Date: 2014-01-13 01:13 am (UTC)I think so too, and yeah, the butthurt really doesn't warrant sending the guys hatetweets! :( (Oh, that sounds like a great idea! Especially since I'm not in any of those fandoms! :D )
Oh, very good point yes! A Japanese audience wouldn't be at all interested or impressed by international live dates, and also, they probably don't have anything ready this early in the year, if they're going this year. I have a feeling they won't though... too soon after the previous one for them. April, yes! :D And we didn't get to hear about the Russian festival or Summer Sonic at the start of the year either. So, people should just calm their tits, as the kids say these days. ;)

Date: 2014-02-04 06:41 pm (UTC)Just do what I did- buy some live DVDs and wait and keep calm.
These people are meant to be idols.
Sheesh! Honestly, I could rant for hours about this. Annoys me so much...

Date: 2014-01-12 10:56 pm (UTC)I understand another world tour but even if they can't make it to america, don't get mad at them. -.-* That's flipping al;fgh-79rhgajdnvpauejhf[aojdnvh98ahejonkdjc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not like they get to choose where to go. Its the company and most importantly the PLACES THAT DON'T REQUEST THEM!
ah, smh.... I get migraines over this is The GazettE, you have my biggest apologies sometimes and I'm so thankful you guys are stronger that to take in the stupid hate letters.
I'm begging tho, people need to at least understand that they really love all their fans and try to reach worldwide. They work constantly almost every day, think about all the stuff they have to do to please the company and US! Interviews, recordings, practice, meetings, and they just finished CODA! It's like they barely have enough time for themselves! Which is really bad too. I want and at the same time REALY DON'T WANT but the guys really need to have like love realtionships too. As a fan, I don't know if they do or not, but I get a bit scared because it seems like Aoi and Ruki has no one. Aoi and Ruki both have friends and all, but Ruki usually tweets about LIves, Interviews, and BM goods. Aoi, random stuff, friends, and guitar stuff but... You know, they have a lot of things to do and its not easy for them. And most things they do, they can't actually say no to cuz its not their idea but the companys. I'm not trying to blame the company, but The GazettE is who they are, and they do love their fans and music. I have watched all LIVES that are available ot me and they way they do the music raw and how they show themselves. The Tears, say more than words can.
SO PLEASE DON'T BASH ON THE MEMBERS FOR SOMETHING THEY CANNOT CONTROL! AT LEAST THEY MAKE WORLD TOURS, BETTER SOME PLACES THAN NONE!
I'm in America too, but as long as The GazettE can have fun doing what they love to do I'll be fine. Even if they aren't coming to America yet, it's still progress. One step at a time. Ill support them no matter what.
so, GAMBARE YO GAZETTO!

Date: 2014-01-13 01:24 am (UTC)I'm excited for the guys, and the fans in Japan who are so looking forward to this next tour. It seems like these guys just don't take breaks. They work hard for their fans and I appreciate it so much, even if I may never get to see them because I don't have the means to travel [USA resident here]...
As far as people attacking Heresy members and the hate messages...... just.... (/_-)
I just can't.
There will always be the wankers out there, for pretty much every fandom, but it's the fandoms we love the most that really have an effect on us.
But the level-headed ones just need to stick together, because it's all we can do.

Date: 2014-01-13 11:23 pm (UTC)And, yeah, it always hurts to see a fandom you love breaking out in idiocy. It's like, "These are my people, my tribe, my fandom family - and they're acting like spoiled children." Lord knows I've been through it enough times - I survived the original Fullmetal Alchemist fandom in its heyday, which used to have a "Days We Have Avoided Fandom Wank" counter on top of its main LJ community. I was in the D. Gray-Man fandom for the "THE ANIME'S BEEN LICENSED OUR FANDOM WILL BE FLOODED WITH IDIOTS" wank, and I'm also in the My Little Pony fandom, which has had some of the biggest, most pointless wanks ever in the last year. (When the series' main character was elevated to a princess, I think the wank registered on the Richter scale). And every one of them has just left me shaking my head and, in some cases, avoiding certain communities for months on end. And the sad part is, the wankers are always in the minority. It's the old case of a few people ruining it for everyone.

Date: 2014-01-15 01:16 am (UTC)Every fandom I've ever been part of, I've always kept in the background because the immaturity of the wankers is one of the biggest pet peeves I struggle with, so I avoid the idiots -no matter how much of a minority they may be, but they are- as much as possible.
to save my own sanity anyway. XD

Date: 2014-01-13 08:14 am (UTC)Awful.
Ruki is a god, though. He hardly gives anyone the satisfaction when it comes to these things.

Date: 2014-01-13 10:30 am (UTC)I also don't see the problem with the tour being Heresy only - people pay a lot to join, they have to have SOME perks, right? It's really quite depressing. *sigh*

Date: 2014-01-13 11:37 pm (UTC)People also don't realize that fan club lives are really the only privilege Heresy members get, compared to the fan clubs of other bands. Club Alice has a number of meet-and-greet events, including a fan club trip every couple of years, where the fans get to attend dinners, karaoke sessions etc. with the band. They also had birthday parties for each of the members a couple of years ago, with the band in attendance. Siesta is starting to do the same thing, they just announced the first SCREW fan club trip. Heresy doesn't do any of that - they can't, because of the sheer number of members. So the fans are entitled to SOMETHING besides a few extra videos and pictures, a newsletter and that spiffy gold card case. The wankers really need to look at the bigger picture here.
(And, yes, they definitely don't announce their whole schedule at the start of the year! I'm sure there will be something else around Christmas, whether it's a single or a big, public live. I guess these people don't remember how far into the year we got the announcement of the World Tour).

Date: 2014-01-13 04:42 pm (UTC)I can tell you from a first-hand viewpoint that they have not even vaguely hinted at announcing another world tour - Aoi has said that he wants to go to more countries (said countries listed were all in Asia), and Ruki may have said what he did in the MTV81 interview (mind you, of course he's going to say he wants to do another world tour when speaking to an international audience), but let's get real. With their typical release schedule, they've been long overdue for their typical once a year FC live tour (there wasn't one last year), and do people honestly expect them to do another world tour so soon? And come to /America/? at that? Get real, people. If you want to see them so bad, save up and come to Japan like the rest of us. Good grief.
Edit: I also forgot to mention, in Japan, if you go to more than one oneman live a year of a certain band, there's a 90% chance they're in the fanclub. There are over 1,000 FC members for DIAURA, an indie band that's only existed for 2 years and the FC's only been open for a month. There are over 60,000 domestic Heresy members and almost 500 overseas Heresy members. It's not like they're excluding anyone who wants to go. *rolls eyes*

Date: 2014-01-14 01:30 am (UTC)Most of the wankers seem to be the younger fans who don't have the financial means to join Heresy or go to Japan - but that most definitely doesn't give them license to attack those who can. And it ESPECIALLY doesn't give them license to attack the band! They're just trying to give back to the fans who, y'know, have paid extra for being in their club. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that this kind of thing keeps them from doing another world tour in the future - and ESPECIALLY assures they won't come to North America.
