Nov. 18th, 2013 01:25 pmIs it just me, or did some people, well, overreact to the news of Ruki's vocal problems over the weekend? I can see why there would be concern, especially if he missed several shows - but flat-out panic after he wasn't able to perform the encore at one live? The translated tweets had barely hit Tumblr when I was seeing the kind of posts one would expect to see if he were gravely ill.
Meanwhile, I finally listened to SCREW's new single over the weekend - it was the first J-rock other than Beautiful Deformity I'd listened to since that album was released. (Well, other than the time I listened to Disorder right after BD just to marvel at how far the boys have come.) Bad fangirl, I know. I actually like Cavalcade a LOT more now than I did when I first heard it on the PV - the electronic distortion on the vocals had put me off at first. It's a good, solid, hard-rocking single that should definitely silence the people who have been claiming SCREW has become a generic J-rock band ever since going major (which they haven't - their major label debut album was awesome). I really like the surprise ending coda on Groggy Slumber, too!
By the way, does the SCREW fandom have a name, the way Alice Nine fans are Number Sixes and GazettE fans are Sixth Guns? If it doesn't, it needs one, preferably with "six" in the name so it matches the others. XD (Deep Sixes, maybe?)
