Sep. 21st, 2013 10:34 pmI'm just about ready to go to Munich. "Just about" means I have a pile of clothes sitting on a table that have yet to go into a suitcase. But, hey, they're all together in one place, right? Notified Bank of America of my travel plans so they don't put a stop on my cards - check. Arranged for transportation to/from the dreaded JFK Airport - check. Got a plug adapter - check.
It still doesn't seem real. I don't think it'll seem real until I'm actually in the live house and I see the "GAZETTE" backdrop in front of me.
Game plan - leaving Tuesday afternoon, going to JFK, flight at 5:15. Layover in Dusseldorf. Will arrive in Munich Wednesday morning. Taking the train from the airport into the center of the city; my hotel is walking distance from the train station. I imagine I'm going to be making an early night of it Wednesday. Thursday, I'm meeting up with
ruruu and we are going out to Neuschwanstein Castle (the castle that Walt Disney used as the model for the castles in his parks and in the Disney logo). And Friday . . . oh, my God. It's actually going to be REAL.
Believe me, the timing couldn't be better. Not only is this coming after what may be the most awful year of my life (11 months after Hurricane Sandy, which was the beginning of my family's troubles; nearly five months since my father's passing), but it's right after a rather nasty incident at work last week - long story short, some people were talking shit about me behind my back within my earshot. I decided not to make a fuss about it, preferring to take the high road, but it made me angry as hell. It also kind of reawakened my desire to get the heck out of there - I'd stopped looking around for something else after my father passed away.
Going to get back to regular writing after the trip, too. I just realized recently that I never did my ghost story challenge fic for
kai_pleasure, and I've got a few other ideas.
So . . . three more days to go, OMG!!!!
