I was actually thinking of the movie Fargo when I put in the "doncha knows" - a movie about a seemingly calm Midwestern location with dark secrets. (You KNOW those too-perfect Hallmark towns have at least one person who is capable of putting somebody in a wood chipper!)
Sakito was definitely a jerk at first! He was sort of a play on the typical romance novel hero (and, of course, Hallmark's DNA is at least 50% Harlequin) who starts out as a complete and total ass and ends up as Prince Charming. (Without going all the way into Edward Cullen/Christian Grey creeper territory!)
I just had to do The Leftovers thing! I actually found out after I completed this fic that ALL the members of Nightmare now have solo projects (which probably means that their "hiatus" is, like SuG's, going to end up a permanent disbandment). If I had known that, there would have been a lot more Leftovers!
