The dark side of the industry is something I felt I needed to bring out in a fic, since Uruha is pretty much TOO nice. We've had hints of it before, but Hard Candy is pretty much everything bad about the business - corrupt and in bed with crime. (Fun fact: There actually was an awards show vote-fixing scandal in the adult video industry in the '80s, and it resulted in a porn critics association creating an "alternative" awards show that's still running today.)
