(no subject)

So I went walking this morning, feeling optimistic that this horrendous winter was finally over, came home, opened Tumblr - and got hit in the face with the news that Lycaon is disbanding.

I haven't been a fan for that long (I got into them after my most recent Japan trip, when I attended an instore for the release of Shadow - I have a picture of myself with the band on my phone). That doesn't mean I didn't come to love this band a lot in that short time. The thing with Lycaon is they're not not just some all-image-no-music outfit, they are a GOOD band. They're a complete package - talent, presentation, songwriting. They just got better and better with every release, and their latest album is flat-out classic. Heck, I had hoped that their future music would be strong enough to pull back in all those wayward VK fans who strayed from the fandom. I'm glad they're turning the best song on that album, Gypsy, into their final single/PV. It's what they deserve to go out on.

I just hope the members, especially Yuuki and Satoshi, stay in the industry and form new projects. They are just too talented to vanish into the ether. Hell, I want to see Yuuki pull a Kamijo and launch a solo career with image and persona intact.

Dammit, what the hell is happening to my favorite bands over the last 12 months? SCREW and D=OUT lost members (and D=OUT has been silent lately while Kouki has launched a solo project, which is worrying), Alice Nine split from PSC and are now struggling to relaunch themselves, now Lycaon are splitting up . . . *Binds GazettE together with duct tape, then does the same to Diaura*

I know. After this last album, I had come to think of Lycaon as "the best band in Japan whose name isn't GazettE." I was so looking forward to what they would come up with after Camera Obscura, because they seemed to be coming into their own artistically in a big way. I was a fan for just a slightly longer period (which shows how much of an impact they could make in just a short time). I really am hoping they all stay in the industry, they're too talented to let it go to waste.

Who knows what they're planning. I can't seem them disappearing after their recent success though. *praying*
