Have to say the news about ViViD's impending disbandment I saw on my Tumblr feeds today was something of a surprise. Granted, I don't follow them - in fact, they've always been my least favorite of the PSC bands - but it's always sad to see a band break up and leave heartbroken fans in their wake. But geez, their story has got to be some sort of VK cautionary tales - they had one of the most meteoric rises and falls EVER. (I still remember the HUGE controversy when they played Budokan after only being together for a few years). I'm also seeing rumors that they suffered a "fall from grace" with their Japanese fandom after a fan event where the band was drunk and rude - have no idea if that's true at all, but if it is, it just makes the tale even more cautionary, doesn't it?

Meanwhile, I have a feeling I'm going to be combining Ruki's and Yuuki's birthdays into one fic, since their birthdays are close to each other anyway. (So is Byou's, for that matter).

Yeah, I can't say I'm too upset about this. The Budokan thing was utter bullshit, and there seems to have been rumours about their poor behavious for a while. Plus I can't say that I can remember a single one of their songs, which is probably the biggest crime of all. XD

Yeah, that's the thing - you just do NOT treat fans the way they were rumored to have done at the one band event that was said to have been their Armageddon. With the enormous slew of VK bands out there? You have to EARN their loyalty. You may have played Budokan, but if you ignore and are rude to your fans, guaranteed they won't be back for another go-around. And yeah, every song of theirs I've listened to has been as bland as unbuttered toast - which is a shame, because according to some fans of theirs, they used to be good when they were indie.

I think Budokan went to their heads, somehow. Must have, since there's been rumours about them for some time. I usually don't listen much to rumours, but I have to admit I didn't wave them off as complete lies with this band. Not sure why, just something... And you're so right about having to earn your fans and their trust and love. There's so many bands, so many new ones popping up, and it's not enough to have been "good" at one point, to have played a big venue, etc because you can't hold the fans' attention 100% of the time, they're bound to discover new music, follow more bands, and if you, like ViViD, turn nasty or rude or just start to suck, then you lose your fanbase to the others.

I have three songs with them, I think, and yeah, it's not bad but fairly generic VK music. And these have to be rather old songs, I think.

It probably did go to their heads - they made it there something like two years after they were formed, whereas it took GazettE four years to make it there and Alice Nine nearly six years (I remember the Number Sixes were pretty much up in arms about it - and that fandom doesn't wank easily). I actually hadn't heard the rumors before this, but sadly, I'm not surprised. Don't they realize it's the fans who put them there? I remember when I went to the handshake events after the SCREW lives - they treated each and every girl and woman there like she was a princess. (They even made an effort to speak English to me - with varying degrees of success). With other bands doing that, why would a fangirl waste her time on a band whose music has slipped in quality and who are rude to fans?

Ruki and Yuuki together? Looking forward to that! :)

Already writing it. ~_^ I was going to bring in Yo-ka from Diaura (my newest hello-I-love-you obsession) as well, but I decided to just have him to a cameo in this one and get his own Camera Eye fic later. This one's just for Yuuki and Ruki.

I'm not doing Gazette fics, because i'm not that a big a fan and already overwhelmed with the birthday fics this year. But I have wrote a Yuuki fic for his birthday. XD
