Last time I posted here, it was to tell about my wonderful (not) experience when my appendix ruptured. Since then I've been doing a lot better - I got the drain out of my stomach, my energy levels and mobility have improved considerably, and today, my doctor approved me to go back to work Monday after being on medical leave for six weeks. And I've even started slowly writing a very simple Camera Eye fic, just to start writing again. (I'm very, very glad I wrote and posted A Sort Of Fairy Tale before all hell broke loose.)

Next step is to have a colonoscopy to ensure that there's no underlying cause of the appendicitis, and if that comes out clean, they will FINALLY schedule the surgery to take the damn thing out. I told the surgeon today that I'm planning to go to California over Memorial Day Weekend (I booked the air back in January), so if at all possible, I'd like to have it done so I can have the surgery and recover before then. (The doctor assured me that the surgery will be No Big Deal, it's a laparoscopic appendectomy that involves three small incisions and it'll be a short recovery time. He said I may even be able to go home the same day).

So, yeah, things have been looking up. And in a strange way, I am looking forward to going back to work. Anything that's a step in the direction of Normal Life is a Good Thing.
